Ford & GM Sales Surge In April

Ford and GM sales surged in April, presenting more evidence of an improving economy. Ford sales jumped by an impressive 25% from April 2009 levels to over 160,000 units, compared to about 130,000 a year earlier. Likewise, Chevrolet sales surged 17% and Cadillac and Buick sales each surged 36%.

Ford's only real lagging model was the Mustang, as many buyers were waiting for the new 2011 model to debut soon, and decided to wait for the refreshed model.

Other auto industry companies such as Toyota, Honda, Chrysler and others will release their April data very soon as well.
