Steven Seagal's A&E Reality Cop Show A Big Hit
After some big 1990's action hits like UNDER SIEGE and HARD TO KILL, tough guy actor Steven Seagal's film career seemed to dim significantly. Seagal's later films were mostly filmed overseas and mostly debuted on the American market just on DVD. This seemed like a huge drop-off in popularity for the one time major action film star. But now things are looking real bright again. Steven Seagal's new reality police show, LAWMAN, is a big time hit for the A&E network.
Steven Seagal has actually become a genuine Louisiana's Jefferson Parish fully commissioned deputy police officer and LAWMAN follows Seagal around with a camera chronicling his work on the job. Audiences seemed attracted to it like a glue trap to flies. The new series drew an awesome 3.5 million viewers in it's premiere episode. That's impressive.
The biggest surprise about the success of LAWMAN is that Steven Seagal really looked like a greatly declined entity in the last few years. If anything, LAWMAN proves that audiences still like the actor. He just needed a decent vehicle for a comeback opportunity. Check your local schedule for airings. LAWMAN is pretty good TV. A&E has a real hit on their hands here. Recommended viewing for sure.
