Singer Gerry Rafferty Seriously Ill

Scotish Singer Gerry Rafferty was a huge presence on the charts during the 70's with hits from both Stealers Wheel and as a solo act. Songs like "Stuck In The Middle With You", "Right Down The Line" and "Baker Street" were definite rock classics. "Baker Street" had that great haunting melody. But, unfortunately, many years of hard drinking are now haunting Rafferty who's suffering from kidney failure and has been put on life support, and then removed from life support by doctors. His family says that his ultimate chances of his survival are slim.

All of this is real shame. "Baker Street" was a fantastic composition, well proving that Rafferty is a musical genius. Rafferty's biggest hope is that his health improves enough for a kidney transplant operation. However, Rafferty also has some serious chronic liver health problems as well. His last new album, ANOTHER WORLD was released in 2000. However, a new compilation album, LIFE GOES ON was released just last year. His biggest hit album, CITY TO CITY was #1 in the U.S. back in 1978.

Certainly this is sad news. Mr. Rafferty has our prayers and best wishes right now as he battles for his life.
