Record Store Day Celebrates America's Independent Record Stores

Yesterday was Record Store Day which was started back in 2007 to celebrate the independent record stores across America. Originally, Bull Moose records, a small chain of independent stores located in Maine and New Hampshire founded the celebration of the smaller record store.

America has many great independent record stores such as Crossroads Records in Portland, Oregon. Crossroads operates on an interesting business model of not only having the house record business, but having 60 smaller dealers who rent space in the store, making the store one of the best big collections of collectible vinyl, tapes and cds under one roof around in the Northwest. In addition, some carefully restored vintage audio equipment such as turntables, receivers and reel to reel audio equipment are available at reasonable prices as well.

What makes Crossroads such a great business is that they still stock plenty of older format music products such as reel to reel tapes, cassettes, vinyl, 8tracks, and even some video tapes. Check out Crossroads selection for any recording you want by emailing them at xroads@xro.com or their website at Crossroads music.

The independent record store is alive and kicking.
