Charlie Sheen's Latest Problems Could Hurt TWO AND A HALF MEN
TWO AND A HALF MEN is a runaway comedy success for CBS. And the comedy has even been able to capitalize on the "bad boy" image of actor Charlie Sheen as a womanizing playboy type. However, the latest problems for the actor with serious domestic violence felony charges might not leave either CBS executives or the public laughing. At one point, Sheen's wife even claimed that Charlie Sheen pulled a knife on her. And children's services has become involved as well because of two 10 month old twins in the house.
Sheen's wife, Brooke Mueller, seemed to backtrack on some of her earlier statements about the incident that provoked the 911 call leading to the arrest of the actor. And that has caused her to seek the aid of a lawyer as well. But the actor is free on a $8,500 bond while he awaits a February court appearance. However, any conviction on felony domestic charges that would result in jail or prison time could seriously hurt the filming schedule of TWO AND A HALF MEN.
Another problem for TWO AND A HALF MEN is that the boy actor, Angus T. Jones, is seriously aging, and is not longer a young boy. The show has been on for seven seasons now. But even the reruns of the show hit the top ten of the TV ratings chart. THE BIG BANG THEORY from the same producers is nearly as popular. But since the cast of EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND decided to end the show, TWO AND A HALF MEN has become the flagship comedy for CBS. But now, the legal fate of actor Charlie Sheen could threaten the show's future.
The fact of the matter is that Charlie Sheen just seems to have personal problems and troubled relationships with some women. Although the actor was born into a devout Catholic household as Carlos Irwin Estevez, after his father, Martin Sheen, renamed himself Sheen in honor of the popular Archbishop, Fulton J. Sheen, Charlie's own misadventures have been far from religious ones.
At one point, Martin Sheen, was deeply disgusted at the son for having a relationship with adult film star and B movie actress, Ginger Lynn Allen. Allen had her own problems with spending time in jail for tax fraud and time in rehab for cocaine abuse. Charlie Sheen even had a relationship with a second adult film star, Heather Hunter. But it was Charlie Sheen's own cocaine overdose scare as well as his nasty divorce from actress Denise Richards which really seemed to further damage the actor's reputation. Now, the domestic violence charges cannot be good news for the actor's image among some women viewers, if not among many men as well. Domestic violence is a serious issue, and at some point, an actor can viewed as damaged goods and too much of a liability for some TV or movie producers to handle.
So the fate of TWO AND A HALF MEN may hang in the balance because once again the personal life of actor Charlie Sheen has become troubled. And that's hardly good news for CBS executives or the producers of the wildly popular comedy.
