There's A few Surprise Republican Leaning Celebrity Donors Out There

Even though both Hollywood and the entertainment industry is often characterized as being both liberal and Democratic leaning by the American right, there are still some surprising Republican or conservative leaning celebrity political donors in the nation, including among a few major deceased celebrities who made political donations since 1978 as well.

Country music singer, Roy Acuff, donated $1,400 to Republican candidates according to public records since 1978.

Singer Paul Anka donated 11% of his campaign donations of $2,250 to Republican candidates since 1978, but the 78% remainder went to Democrats or to a special interest broadcast lobby organization for artists and performers.

Fitness guru, Denise Austin has made 100% of her $10,000 in political donations to Republican candidates since 1978.

Alan Autry, actor, has made 100% of his $1,000 in political donations to Republican candidates since 1978.

Burt Bacharach, the great composer is a pretty reliable donor to the Democrats, although Republican candidates have received 7% of his $44,450 in political donations since 1978.

Bob Barker, beloved game show host and animal rights supporter has given 100% of his $2,000 political donations to a California Republican congressional campaign since 1978.

Ellen Barkin, a reliable supporter for the Democrats has given 2% of $90,900 in campaign donations since 1978 to Republican candidates.

Chuck Barris, GONG SHOW producer among other game shows, while a reliable Democratic candidate supporter, did split off 6% of his $16,500 to Republican candidates since 1978.

Jim Belushi, actor, has given mostly to Democrats, but Republicans have been given 24% of his $4,250 in political donations since 1978.

Crystal Bernard, actress from the long running TV series WINGS, has give 100% of her $1,000 since 1978 to Republicans.

Magician David Blaine, has suprisingly given 100% of his political donations to Republicans of $1,000.

Ivan Boesky, convicted felon former financier has given 59% of his $105, 950 to Republicans, warming their hearts that some felons support them.

Pat Boone, as expected leans conservative, and Republicans have earned 79% of his $28435 in political donations, with the remainer going to special interest groups.

Ernest Borgnine, former McHALE's NAVY star has donated 80% of his $2,500 in political donations to the Republicans.

Julie Bowen, actress has donated 100% of her $1,000 in donations to Republican candidates for political office.

Bruce Boxleitner, has donated 80% of his $5,000 to Republican candidates, splitting the remainder with special interest groups and 10% to Democrats.

Jerry Bruckheimer, megaproducer, has donated 29% of his $20,700 to Republican candidates, but mainly leans Democratic otherwise.

Billy Bush, celebrity announcer and TV host has given 100% of his $450 to Republicans.

Candace Bushnell, author, has given 100% of her $1,000 to Republicans.

The late and great, James Cagney, donated 100% of his $7,750 while alive to Republicans.

Actor Dean Cain splits his $2,000 in political donations down the middle, 50-50% between Republicans and Democrats.

James Cameron, director, has given 38% of $13,000 to Republican candidates.

Glen Campbell, country music singer leans conservative like many in Nashville, and donated 88% of his $8, 170 to Republicans when not getting arrested for DUI.

The great Frank Capra, donated 79% of his $1,200 to Republican candidates.

Comic actor, Drew Carey, has given 100% of his $3,000 in political donations to Republicans so far.

Dixie Carter, Southern fried actress, has donated 67% of her $3,750 to Republicans.

Jim Caviezal, the actor who played Jesus, has given 100% of his $2,100 to Republicans.

And public records also indicate substantial donations by others such as Paul Shaffer, Tom Clancy, Patrica Cornwell, Mary Higgins Clark and many others to Republicans. Interesting while many actotrs lean Democratic, most authors seem to lean Republican. Paul Shaffer might be the biggest surprise of all, not being as unconventional as many think and leaning conservative.

Yes, Julie Bowen gave $1000 to Repubs, but it's just one candidate for the Maryland State House and she wasn't a flaming Republican.

I give her a break here. It might have been a friend of the family or something. She hasn't given money to any other candidates as far as I can tell.
