527s Still Organize In Case DNC Head Dean Should Falter

While the Republican Party Chairmanship is solidly in the hands of Karl Rove associate, Ken Mehlman, so interesting activity involved the DNC Chairmanship position is occuring. Howard Dean had an independent 527, Democracy For America -Non Federal which raised $218,000 but spent $500,000 in the first six month of the year. But since becoming the DNC Chairman, Dean has no connection to this 527. Another 527, Frost For DNC Chair has raised $230,000 in possibly an attempt to replace Dean if he should falter. But recently some abrupt comments by Dean have disappeared and his position to stay through the 2006 elections at least seems better assured. But a 527 for Terry McAuliffe, former DNC Chairman, has not gone away, Friends Of Chairman McAuliffe has raised $135,00, mostly during a February event. All of this proves that should Dean seem to falter, there are some organized efforts to replace him already under way that are actively fundraising.
