Willie Nelson's Marijuana Charge Downgraded To A Misdemeanor

The good news for 77 year old country music legend, Willie Nelson, is that his marijuana possession charge has been downgraded from a possible felony to a misdemeanor charge. The singer probably escapes any jail time as well, although the wrong judge could still still sentence him up to one year, but Nelson likely only faces up to a $4,000 fine. This is certainly better news than two years in prison and a $10,000 fine if he faced the more serious felony charge. But the amount of marijuana seized appeared to be less than 4 oz.

While at a checkpoint intended to search for illegal aliens, the smell of marijuana alerted a guard to legally search the tour bus of Willie Nelson, resulting in his arrest.
The outlaw country singer's feelings about the legal system are probably best summed up by this here photo.
