President Obama Continues To Improve The Mood Of America

The fact of the matter is that President Obama only continues to improve the overall mood of America where according to the latest Real Clear Politics poll of polls, 45.8% vs. 45.8% view the nation as moving in the right direction. During one point during the Bush Administration back in October, just 7% of Americans viewed the country as moving in the right direct, and 91% viewed the country as moving in the wrong direction in a poll conducted jointly by USA Today and Gallup. President Obama is inspiring confidence on enough issues overall, even though voters may disagree with some issues that trust his overall leadership much more than that of the previous administration. Further, Democrats continue to command enough of a lead on the generic Congressional ballot polling for 2010 that they will likely retain control of Congress after the 2010 elections, allowing much of the proposals of the Obama Administration to advance.

While Republicans make attempts to chip away with some issues, overall they appear to be failing at making any real dent into the improved mood of the country that the Obama Administration is achieving. Further, a poll out yesterday in USA Today failed to find any major Republican spokesman, with Rush Limbaugh topping the list at a mere 13%. Sarah Palin didn't really prove any real power as the major GOP figure in the poll, despite her efforts at self-promotion. On the other hand, President Obama seems to have firmly rebuilt the Democratic Party around his own presidency and issues. Unless the economy fails to improve by 2010, then the Republicans are likely in a difficult situation to improve their standing enough to revive their party much in the off-year elections.

For the Republicans to have to depend on things going wrong in the country in order to win in 2010 and 2012 isn't much of a political strategy. President Obama appears to be inspiring enough faith in his leadership that a majority of voters will likely re-elect him at this point, giving him 8 full years to revive America in his own vision.
